Cool Designs and Creative Ideas for Modern Living


More designers are projecting creative designs by reinterpreting the relationship between space and function. Some of this ideas are really cool by being timeless and fresh in its approach to be non traditional. One example of that reformulation of space and function is the Super Potatoe”s design for this Orchard Scotts Showflat. The spiritual essence of the design coupled with designer furniture and fittings makes this a Cool Design.

The vernacular for this pre-war apartments in Tiong Bahru Singapore is raw minimalism. The zeal to recreate the mood and era in which this apartments were built is demonstrated by the display of artifacts  collected by homeowners and the unobtrusive introduction poster of Suzie Wong in the picture below. The era is moulded in to the modern day design by using raw cement screed floor and cubist inspired furniture. We find this fusing of the forgotten era and modern day minimalism inspiring and Cool!

This showflat designed by CenturyXXX epitomises the graphic nature of cards and furniture. The arrangement of the furniture though erratic in nature is organised  in its layout. The use of playing cards graphics on one wall and red as the single colour as a unifying  theme is both clever and unique. We find this redefinition Cool!

This one bedroom apartment in Cote De Azur is stylish and Cool. The apartment design identifies the functional needs of the owner without projecting clutter. To create layers of intricacy within a small space requires creativity and sensitivity. The designer here has artfully blended the designer furniture by using white as base colour and hues of dark warm tones borrowed from the fabrics and carpentry to make this space  Cool!

Popular public opinion, rallied together with Architectural Preservationist convinced the authorities to restore, and not redevelop, areas that  remains faithful to the original designs, This shophouse stands out as an outstanding example of that policy for preservation and conservation. This new found interest has led to some exciting new design which applies post independence architecture with modernist elegance. This is interior architecture by Ecoid is one of the Coolest design to come out of that policy.
